SARNIA – Bolstered the roster with the addition of an Astro.
Kyle Peterson has officially announced his commitment to Head Coach Al Bezaire and the Lambton Men’s Baseball Program for the 2026 season, and beyond.
Peterson is the fourth member of the 2026 recruiting class for Bezaire and company. Peterson joins a talented group of incoming recruits that also features the likes of Braydon Mann (Strathroy, Ont.), Ryan Hubbard (Mitchell, Ont.), and Nolan Grimes (Strathroy, Ont.).
“We are happy to welcome Kyle to the Lambton Baseball family,” said Bezaire. “Kyle embraces the 'dirtbag' philosophy that we have established here and checks all the boxes for the type of recruits we want here.”
“Any day you can add a player from the best league in Ontario (CPBL) it is a good day. With his experience and skill facing some of the best competition in Ontario while playing with Ontario Astros, Kyle has an opportunity to create a real competition for a starting outfield job which can only make everyone around him better. Hopefully, he can also provide us with some meaningful innings out of the bullpen. He also showed a very strong desire to be a Lambton Lion, so we are more than happy to welcome anyone that puts us at the top of their list of potential destinations.”
Peterson, a five-foot-ten pitcher / outfielder, comes to Lambton College by way of Donald A. Wilson Secondary School in his hometown of Whitby. Peterson plays his summer ball with the Team Ontario Astros.
The Whitby native is excited about what lies ahead for him at Lambton College with the Lions program.
“It feels great,” said Peterson after making his college decision official. “From the first time that I came here, I really liked it, and this was always my first choice.”
“I’m most looking forward to the new chapter of baseball. The baseball aspect is going to be the most exciting for me, playing for a new team in a new area.”
When he was asked what Lambton fans can expect to see from him on the field, Peterson’s answer rang true to the dirtbag mentality that Bezaire looks for in his players.
“They can expect to see someone who works hard and puts in the effort,” added Peterson. “I’m someone who’s going to leave it all on the field.”
Academically, Peterson will be enrolled in the Paramedic Program at Lambton College.
Peterson joins a Lions program that is coming off a 2025 season that saw the program bring home its second consecutive medal at the OCAA Championships. The Lions posted a 12-6 record in the regular season, winning the regular season title for the first time in the program’s brief history.
They were the 2025 OCAA Bronze Medalists, and the 2024 OCAA Silver Medalists.
Heading into 2026, the bulk of their roster is expected to return for another run at an OCAA Championship. The addition of Peterson on the mound helps to solidify the pitcher’s group, giving the Lions another strong and reliable arm as they set their sights on another podium finish, while simultaneously strengthening the outfield platoon.
Welcome to The Den, Kyle!
