Dresden Outfielder Abigail Coffin Commits to Lambton Women’s Softball Program for 2026 Season

SARNIA – Another Golden Eagle has landed in The Den.

Outfielder Abigail Coffin has officially committed to Head Coach Richard Helps and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program for the 2026 season, and beyond.

Coffin is the fourth member of the 2026 recruiting class for Helps and the rest of the Lions coaching staff. Coffin joins a talented recruiting class that features the likes of America Shepherd (Delhi, Ont.), Tyleigh Winger (Sarnia, Ont.), and Sommer Dalgety (Courtright, Ont.).

“Overall, I’m just really excited,” said Coffin. “I’ve dreamed of this since I was a little girl, so I’m excited to join a new team and just experience everything that comes with being part of such a good team.”

“I’m most looking forward to having those friendships with the players on the team and having a family connection with them. I’m also really excited to be able to pursue my career while still playing softball.”

Coffin, a five-foot-seven outfielder, comes to Lambton College by way of Lambton Kent Composite School in Dresden. Outside of high school, Coffin plays for the Chatham Golden Eagles U19 program, which has yielded several Lions players over the last two seasons.

With the Lions, Coffin will remain teammates with Dalgety and Kaelynn Campbell, while also playing with a pair of former Golden Eagles in Lilly Klompstra and Tanner Hibma-Powell.

With the addition of Coffin to the outfield rotation, Helps is excited about the potential she brings to the roster.

“We’re excited to add another Golden Eagle to our roster with Abigail,” said Helps. “With Abigail’s ability to play all three spots in the outfield, and some innings in the infield if needed, she gives our roster a ton of flexibility.”

“With the loss of some outfielders from last year’s team, we’re looking forward to having Abigail come in and contribute right away. As she enters the Nursing Program, we’re looking forward to watching her continually develop as a player and a person.”

Academically, Coffin will be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science – Nursing Program at Lambton College.

The combination of pursuing a career in nursing, playing softball, and the close proximity to home all played a factor in Coffin’s decision to close Lambton College. The overall feel of the college and its environment made it the perfect choice.

“It’s really cozy here,” added Coffin. “Everyone has been really welcoming so far.”

“The team has been really welcoming, as well, at practices. They’ve been engaging in training, talking to me and playing catch, so it’s been good.”

Welcome to The Den, Abigail!
