SARNIA – Added some power on both sides of the ball.
Pressley Stephenson has officially committed to Head Coach Richard Helps and the Lambton Women’s Softball Program for the 2026 season, and beyond.
Stephenson is the fifth member of the 2026 recruiting class for Helps and the rest of the Lions coaching staff, adding to what’s already a talented group of incoming student-athletes for the program. Stephenson will join the likes of catcher America Shepherd (Delhi, Ont.), centerfielder Tyleigh Winger (Sarnia, Ont.), infielder Sommer Dalgety (Courtright, Ont.), and outfielder Abigail Coffin (Dresden, Ont.) as a newcomer with the program when the 2026 season opens in September.
“I’m really excited for this opportunity at Lambton,” said Stephenson. “Playing college softball is something that I’ve wanted to do for a while so I’m looking forward to getting started in the fall.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting all the girls on the team and getting to know them as the year goes on.”
Stephenson, a five-foot-eleven pitcher and first baseman, comes to Lambton College by way of Huron Park Secondary School in Woodstock. The native of Innerkip also plays for the London Lightning U19 Tier 1 program, joining a long list of Lightning players to make the jump to the OCAA with the Lions.
While her primary positions are on the mound and at first base, Stephenson has spent a bit of time playing in the outfield, adding to her versatility with the program. While she will primarily play one of her two main positions, the versatility does give Helps and the rest of the coaching staff some different lineup options moving ahead.
For Helps, he is excited about the power and potential that Stephenson brings to the lineup on both sides of the ball.
“We are excited to add a player of Pressley’s caliber to the program,” said Helps. “She will add some power to our roster while giving us another reliable arm on the mound.”
“Offensively, Stephenson hits for power and will fit in nicely in the middle of our lineup. In the field, she’s another top-quality pitcher that throws strikes and has a strong arm on the mound.”
Academically, Stephenson will be enrolled in the Paramedic Program at Lambton College.
As she was taking campus tours and doing her research on post-secondary institutions, the Paramedic Program at Lambton College stood out to her. Having the combination of her academic program and the ability to play collegiate softball tipped the scales in favour of Lambton College.
“I heard (early on) that Lambton had a really good Paramedic Program,” added Stephenson. “They have the virtual aspects and the hands-on labs that really stood out to me.”
“Then, when I got in contact with the Women’s Softball coaches, I knew that this was the place for me and where I wanted to go.”
Welcome to The Den, Pressley!
