SARNIA – Another talented player is coming north of the border.
In recent years, the Lambton Men’s Basketball program has established a lengthy list of talented players coming north of the border to finish their collegiate basketball careers. Among several others, the list includes familiar names and past fan favourites like Branden Padgett (Detroit, Mich.), Jason Watts (Detroit, Mich.), Jason Marshell (Detroit, Mich.), and current forward Darrius Canty (Detroit, Mich.).
Now, as plans continue for the 2022-23 season, Head Coach James Grant has once again turned to the transfer market to land the program’s latest recruit.
Guard Jeremiah Wilson (Sterling Heights, Mich.) has verbally committed to the Lambton Men’s Basketball program for the 2022-23 season.
Wilson is the fourth player in the 2022-23 recruiting class for Grant and the Lions. Wilson joins the likes of Hayden Scott (Sarnia, Ont.), Zion Ainsworth (Sarnia, Ont.), and Aiden Dougherty (Thunder Bay, Ont.) as names who have committed to the program.
Wilson, who played his high school basketball at Sterling Heights Stevenson, comes to Lambton College after spending time with both the Macomb C.C. Monarchs and the Delta C.C. Pioneers in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA). Through 12 games this season with the Pioneers, Wilson ranks first in the MCCAA in three-point shooting, hitting on 55.8% of his attempts from beyond the arc.
In high school, he was an All-Conference guard while also being an All-State Honourable Mention and All-East Honourable Mention.
“I am someone who plays the game hard and is obsessed with studying the game and watching film,” said Wilson. “Fans should expect to see me play hard every night, and I will be prepared for every game, both mentally and physically.”
With his ability to play at both guard spots, Wilson adds more versatility to what is shaping up to be a potent back court rotation for the Lions heading into 2022-23. Equipped with his shooting prowess and strong offensive game, Wilson will be a welcome addition to the group.
Coming to Lambton College will also put Wilson in a position to achieve his dream of playing professional basketball.
“Lambton College was the right fit because the style of game will allow me to get a lot of 3s up, and it will be a fast-paced game,” added Wilson. “My conditioning work in the summer will allow for me to keep up with the change in pace.”
“Also, I want to play professional basketball, and I will be playing against grown men and the rules in the OCAA will allow me to prepare and adapt to the next level.”
Wilson will be enrolled in the Sports and Recreation Management program while at Lambton College.
Welcome to The Den, Jeremiah!
