SARNIA – Some more ‘oohs and aahs’ are coming to The Den this fall.
Combo guard Aiden Clarke has officially committed to Head Coach James Grant and the Lambton Men’s Basketball Program for the 2026-27 season, and beyond.
Clarke is the fifth member of the 2026 recruiting class for Coach Grant and company, adding to what’s already a talented crop of incoming recruits. Clarke will join the likes of wing Oshane Campbell (Chatham, Ont.), forward Isaac Mackey (Strathroy, Ont.), guard Romane Graham (Whitby, Ont.), and guard Aaron Aikoroje (Vaughan, Ont.) as a newcomer with the Lions when the new season opens in September.
“I’m very excited to get to work and to get on the court and show what I can do,” said Clarke. “I get told that I have a lot of talent, so it’s time to show it.”
“The coaching staff were very welcoming and very patient with everything, making the process easy for me. I’m looking forward to building myself and going into that next step of life. I’m excited to become stronger, both physically and mentally.”
Clarke, a six-foot-three combo guard, comes to Lambton College by way of Agincourt Collegiate Institute in Toronto. Outside of high school, Clarke plays for Top Notch Prep Academy.
Clarke brings the ability to play at both guard spots, adding another element of versatility to the Lions’ rotation heading into the 2026-27 season. At a recent workout with the team, it was Clarke’s shooting ability and overall court awareness that stood out to Grant, and he sees a long-term fit for Clarke within the program.
“Aiden showed great court awareness and the ability to make shots when he came for his workout with us,” said Grant. “We were really impressed with those skills, and his mature attitude.”
“He is going to fit in very well with our squad.”
Academically, Clarke will be enrolled in the Plumbing – Mechanical Techniques Program at Lambton College.
For Clarke, making his commitment to Coach Grant and the Lions was an exciting moment, and he’s looking forward to the opportunities that are to come down the road. When he steps onto the court for the first time in a Lambton uniform, he’s hoping to bring even more excitement for the crowd through his play on both ends of the floor.
“Expect a lot of midranges, and a lot of oohs and aahs,” added Clarke, with a smirk. “Maybe one or two times we’ll catch a dunk, but we’ll have to wait and see.”
Clarke joins a Lambton program that’s expected to return the bulk of their 2025-26 roster, one that finished the regular season with a 10-8 record, good for fourth in the always-competitive West Division.
The addition of Clarke to the back court rotation will help to bolster an already talented crop of guards, and he adds another element of versatility with his ability to play at the 1 or 2.
Welcome to The Den, Aiden!
