SARNIA – Lambton College Athletics has announced the new Head Coaches for the Lambton Women’s and Men’s Soccer Programs ahead of the 2026 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) season, which opens in September across the province.
Steve LeBlanc will take over as Head Coach of the Lambton Men’s Soccer Program. LeBlanc, who will be entering his 10th season as a coach at Lambton College, spent the last nine seasons as an Assistant Coach with the Women’s Soccer Program under the late Kevin Simmonds. LeBlanc brings with him a wealth of experience at various levels and age groups, having coached for more than 30 years. His experiences include coaching boys, girls, women, and men’s programs across Sarnia-Lambton and beyond.
LeBlanc is currently the Club Head Coach with the Sarnia Girls Soccer Club. He is a Chartered Professional Coach with the Coaching Association, and a Learning Facilitator and Coach Developer with Ontario Soccer.
Following the conclusion of the 2025-26 academic year, Adam Lakey resigned from his position as Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Program. Lakey spent 14 seasons with the Men’s Soccer Program, first starting out as an Assistant Coach before stepping into the Head Coaching position prior to the 2021 season. Lambton College Athletics would like to thank Lakey for his unwavering commitment and dedication to the Men’s Soccer Program and to his student-athletes during his time as both an Assistant Coach and Head Coach.
Sue Tomback will become the next Head Coach of the Women’s Soccer Program at Lambton College. Tomback will be entering her third season with the Lambton Women’s Soccer Program, having spent the last two seasons as an Assistant Coach working with Simmonds and LeBlanc. A coach with more than 20 years of experience under her belt, Tomback has coached various levels and age groups with the Sarnia Girls Soccer Club, ranging from U9 all the way up to women’s teams.
Tomback assumes the role of Head Coach with the Women’s Soccer Program following the passing of Kevin Simmonds on June 2nd. Simmonds left a lasting impact on Lambton Athletics and the many student-athletes he coached throughout his career, one that spanned more than 20 years with the Women's Soccer Program. A Celebration of Life will be held for Kevin Simmonds on Saturday, July 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in The Den Sarnia, located on-campus in Sarnia.
