Sarnia Midfielder, Forward Marlie Robertson Commits to Lambton Women’s Soccer Program for 2026 Season

SARNIA – Kept another top local talent close to home.

Marlie Robertson has officially committed to Head Coach Sue Tomback and the Lambton Women’s Soccer Program for the 2026 season, and beyond!

Robertson is the second recruit in the 2026 recruiting class for the Lions, and the first commitment under Tomback’s tenure as Head Coach of the program. Robertson joins fellow Sarnia recruit Tabitha Chipman (Sarnia, Ont.) in the 2026 recruiting class for the Lions on the field.

“It’s an exciting feeling,” said Robertson after making her college commitment official inside the Cestar Group Athletics & Fitness Complex with her family in attendance. “I’m excited to start with a new program and get to meet all my new teammates.”

“I’m looking forward to being in a new facility, because high school is so small and it gets repetitive. I’m excited to meet new people and expand my horizons.”

Robertson, a five-foot-seven midfielder and forward, comes to Lambton College from Sarnia’s Northern Collegiate Institute & Vocational School, joining a long list of former Vikings student-athletes to join the Lions for OCAA competition. Robertson primarily plays as a center defensive midfielder (CDM), but her secondary position is center forward (CF), thus bringing some versatility and flexibility to the Lions’ roster.

Aside from playing for the Northern senior girls soccer program, Robertson also plays for the Sarnia Spirit U18 program.

For Tomback, keeping another talented player from the Sarnia-Lambton soccer community close to home is exciting for the Lions, and her familiarity with Robertson should help with the transition to the OCAA level.

“We’re excited to add a player of Marlie’s caliber to our program,” said Tomback. “Anytime you can add a local player to your roster, and a talented one at that, it’s an exciting day.”

When asked to describer herself as a soccer player, Robertson was quick to point out her energy on the field while touching on her versatility having played multiple positions in the middle of the field.

“They will see someone who can control the middle of the field,” added Robertson. “They’ll see someone who has good leadership on the field and good communication.”

“I’m loud. I’m very positive on the field and I like to encourage my teammates; I like to cheer.”

Academically, Robertson will be enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing Program at Lambton College.

Welcome to The Den, Marlie!
